Sierra Club Endorses Hiram Soto for Poway City Council

Sierra Club endorses Hiram Soto for Poway City Council

POWAY, CA — The San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club has endorsed Hiram Soto for Poway City Council District 1 in the upcoming November 8, 2022 General Election.

Hiram Soto is a non-profit sustainable energy leader committed to helping communities, governments and businesses move away from fossil fuels and into cleaner, cheaper sustainable energy. If elected, he will push for a Climate Action Plan for Poway. Right now, Poway is the only city in San Diego County that does not have a climate action plan. This despite Poway being especially vulnerable to the worst effects of climate change, including destructive wildfires and extreme drought.

“We are pleased to support your campaign in appreciation of your demonstrated commitment to protecting our environment,” said Richard Miller, Sierra Club Chapter Director.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club. With its open spaces and plentiful trails and protected areas, Poway can be a model for sustainable living, energy independence and a cleaner environment. Unfortunately, our elected officials are indifferent to the changing climate and the role we have to play in reducing greenhouse gasses. I plan to help change if elected to the Poway City Council.”
